The first thing I noticed was the nylon fabric has a nice woven pattern and feels nice to the touch. I also liked the rigid plastic insert which gives the bag a bit of a spine so its easier to place things into it. My use for this seat bag is for commuting. I fit a pair of pants, t-shirt, belt, wallet with still plenty of space for other things, such as probably another pair of pants at least. The final thing that I really liked about this bicycle bag is that when you cinch the bag tight enough to the saddle rails it does not flop about even when riding out of the saddle, the key is cinching the straps tight enough. I am happy with my purchase and am happy to see this is made in the USA.Update 8/09/2018:I have used this bag recently on numerous rides and have noticed a few things, - you will still get the bag swaying more than usual if you place your heavy items at the top, make sure to place the heavy items at the bottom of the bag, so that its more bottom heavy.- i have been caught in light rain and sprinkles and the items inside have been kept dry- one thing that could be better is how the bag attaches to the seat post, it would be better to have a wider strap or two straps going around the seatpost for more rigidityHonestly, for over $100 one would think that they would be getting a high-quality product. I purchased this a year ago and the first bag I received had the stitching coming out of the seams and the first time I loaded the bag the straps pulled out of the triangle webbing. The company sent me a replacement bag, however the stitching was not much better. I needed to reinforce it myself, but part of the problem is that the straps are not inserted far enough into the triangle webbing to have a secure hold. And such I was required to sew makeshift suspenders to connect the straps and webbing. Moreover, most bags in this price range have the seams double-stitched or welded. The Lone Peak bag has only single stitching around the seams. I added significant reinforcement to most of the contact points. Also, the bag sways a great deal when loaded and riding, even when cinched down tight. I would not recommend this bag for any type of long-distance bikepacking in which you will need to over stuff the bags on your bike and/or subject it to heavy use . The quality of the construction on this is simply not up to task. Also, for about half the price there is another bag that has almost the exact same design as this bag which appears to have better quality / more durable stitching snd straps. It really seems like they imitated an existing design and used inferior materials to cut corners. Not happy, particularly as I've had other Lone Peak saddlebags in the past that were much more durable and well-made. Buyer beware.Edit: I only used this bad 2-3 a year. After 1 replacement and multiple attempts to reinforce the stitching, the buckles finally failed, leading to the bag falling onto my rear tire, which burned a hole in the bottom. The vertical buckles simply would not hold the bag tight and would loosen over time.Seriously; don't waste your money.I purchased this for a 200 mile bike packing trip. In it I carried my sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, hammock, hammock tarp, change of clothes, flip flops, and light weight jacket. It was packed full but held up great. No swaying on climbs was felt. I could feel the cross winds more but that was to be expected. The only thing I wish it had was a bungee cord setup on the back top side. Great pack and will use it on my next trip without hesitation.I could give this 5 stars. Material shows some wear from only three bike commute trips however, which will be the places where water will start to enter. But the design and construction are otherwise great for the intended purpose! I use this on a carbon road bike to avoid placing load on the rear stays. This approach gives some side to side sway by definition. Yet this bag really controls that quite well. Excellent for commuting with a full change of clothes and small shoes (running shoes etc.).I do many types of cycling. But I most enjoy long touring. And for those days that it might or might not rain or you wish to maybe pickup a bit of food this bag works well. A half dozen of us just cycled for 12 days in "semi supported" fashion. Meaning I was on my own during the day and was able to pack rain gear, the usual bike repair tools and tubes and food for the remote areas where I could not rely on a store. This bag worked fantastic. Expandable if need be and small if that was called for. And it kept the rain off my back! The others on my trip were jealous...:). Great product in my opinion. The material feels nice. However, I could not get the straps to stay tight. The buckles on the strap did not hold. I had to use bungees to keep it off the tires. I had to use rubber band to hold it closed. I'm not sure if mine was defective, but it is not usable when the straps will not hold.It worked and stayed dry in heavy rain.Awesome bag / ride it with my fixed / holds up well agents the elements / hold enough stuff for an overnighter or runners and a change of clothes for a workout would definitely buy another product from Lone Peak.
