I have been riding on these tires for the last 2 1/2 months in western Alaska. Main use is to commute to/from work. In the last month, the road has turned into a sheet of ice. No issues and the tires grip perfectly around turns and ice ridges in the road. Went for a ride on the river ice road last weekend, never slipped once. Deep snow on trails is a challenge and the tires will not help you there. As others recommended, I did set the studs by ridding 25 miles+ on the road/pavement before the snow and ice happened. I have NOT lost any studs and my starting and stopping is better than many cars I see on the road. 5+ stars, worth the money for safe biking in the winter.Got one for my bike and I can ride up to work through the harsh Michigan winter so far. Works well on ice and you can get through slush. Planning on getting a second one for the front tire soon but you can defiantly make just the back work for poorly plowed roads/ parking lots but you have to be extremely careful when you turn. Anymore than 2in of snow and it becomes very hard to get through at least on my Walmart bike.Greetings from the U.P.! Great tires! Great price! If you bike in the winter you definitely need tires with studs. I own two other pairs of studded tires for my cyclocross specialized crux. Bought these for my mountain bike. Nice thick rubber awesome amount of studs. Grabs really good on ice. Great price from Extreme Bike and Sport!!These grip very, very well. On ice or packed snow it feels as though I'm on dry pavement. It's a bit of a struggle to ride through deeper snow (6-12") but that is not a big deal for me. Installs like a normal bike tire.Kept me from wiping out in fresh snow. As others have noted, you still need to be careful... in general and in rutted ice in particular.I have used this as my front tire for winter riding on my Specialized XC Pro, off road and a bit on road, (and a Nokian Extreme directional studded tire on the rear), for several years, but you could easily use this tire on both front and rear. This tire can't be beat in any kind of light snow up to 2" deep and of course ice. In deeper snow, the studs make no difference, but the tread pattern grips better than most regular tires. Where this tire (and the Nokian) shine, and pay for themselves, is when you are flying downhill and making a turn, only to hit a patch of ice; bare or lightly covered with snow. With regular tires, you will hit the frozen ground hard and fast before you know what happened. With these tires, you may not even know there was ice, as you will pass over it as if you are on dirt; no problem, even if you are leaning the bike into the curve. They really are incredibly good - and worth the investment. If you ride where there is ice and don't buy them, then use the money to get a better helmet and maybe some armor. Quite simply, if you do any kind of off road bike riding in winter, these are for you. However, if you primarily, or exclusively ride on the road, there are better suited studded tires for that, and cheaper too. You can use these on the road, of course, but they will be slower and heavier and much noisier than the Chevron tread type with studs, as the studs on those tires are less in number and smaller in height. But if you want to ride your bike to your ice fishing hut, or down a mountain trail in winter, these are for you. And as the other poster stated they are as easy to change out as regular tires and do not need any kind of tube protector, because the inside of the tire is smooth. So get a pair and go have some fun on the ice!I'm very happy with the performance of these tires, but extremely unhappy with the quality. I've done perhaps 50 miles riding on almost pure ice and packed snow, and I have already lost at least 25 studs on the rear wheel...less but not insignificant amount on the front. Many more studs are now at funky angles in their seats and clearly just waiting to fall out. I followed the recommended gentle break-in/stud setting on pavement before hitting the trails...pointless. At this rate I'll need new (different brand) tires, or drop $$$ on replacement studs if I can find them.Very pleased! Really like the side rows of studs. They dig in and keep me upright when the tire starts to skid sideways on ice. I've ridden them about 20 miles so far on snow and ice and haven't lost any studs yet.Diese ICE Biker sind sehr gut aber mach mich mal 2 Wochen sind schon mehrere metallstifte verloren gegangen aber ich denke das ist normal und man kann diese ja nachkaufen. Gerne weiter zu empfehlen, da diese mich schon vor ein oder anderen Unfällen geschützt habenGreat tires that handle loose snow much better than the regular ice spiders I used to ride. A touch more rolling resistance but worth it.These are impressive. Well worth it!c'est simple ce sont les meilleur pneus glace et neige que je connaisse, accroche latérale, grip, roulement, et résistances aux crevaisons : excellentes.sa fait 3 ans maintenant que je n'utilise plus que ce modèle, un bémol toutefois : si d'aventure vous devez rouler sur du bitume ou béton , le bruit des crampons sur le sol ne seras pas discret.....
