Description

Brooks Saddles B15 Swallow reproduces the timeless design of the daddy of all modern racing saddles, first in production in 1937. It is available in 2 versions, one featuring the original chromium plated steel metalwork and one featuring a much lighter titanium metalwork. The tensioning plate on the underside still bears the original patenting information retaining the word DEPOSÉ, as the patent for this model was first registered in Paris. Back then many of Brooks saddles in fact were exported to the continent for the use of racers in the tours. The honey leather saddle features tubular steel rivets, and weighs 490 grams.

Features

Handmade in England- manufactured with the same Patent principle from 1937 and 100 year old traditional techniques.

Road/MTB- versatile and comfortable, use The B15 swallow on your road or mountain bike.

Timeless design- The B15 swallow is a faithful reproduction, specifically conceived with the sporting cyclist in mind.

Elastic saddle- The B15 swallow is an elastic saddle and features 100% tubular steel rivets.

I had an old Selle Italia Flite Gel that I replaced with a newer model last year, but was not happy with the way it felt. A few of my cycling buddies ride Brooks saddles and raved about them (always putting in the caveat "once they're broken in"). When spending this kind of money, I wanted to make sure I had the right choice, so I did research and comparisons of saddle specs for a few weeks before purchasing the B-15. I tried to find the closest match to my old Selle Italia. I have been very pleased with the B-15 Swallow.I'm a smaller rider, 5'6" at 130 lbs. I ride a titanium Moots road bike. I am a long distance rider and had 1,000 miles under my bike this season so far when I bought the Brooks, so my butt was already toughened up. It took my first ride to set up the saddle and dial in the angle and setback. I'd stop every few miles and change one setting. Since then, I have a few hundred miles on the saddle. I feel the break-in period for me was very quick. I Proofided it on the top and bottom, as Brooks literature recommends. Finding the sweet spot for my sit bones was the thing that took the most time. It is shiny, translate that as slightly slippery. But that has worked to my advantage when having to move front or back on the seat for climbing. The best recommendation I would give is to do research to find the right size of saddle when purchasing. I've ridden bicycles for a half century, I've seen a lot of stuff come and go, and I'm glad I found a match for my butt with the Brooks saddle. It's a shame it's taken so long.
